Contractor Mortgages with Danbro Financial Planning
Getting a mortgage as a contractor – or if you’re self-employed – can feel tricky. It can be a time-consuming and frustrating process. Not all advisers and lenders understand the way you work, and you’re often seen as a ‘higher-risk’ borrower – even if your finances suggest otherwise.
At Danbro Financial Planning, we're in your corner.
We understand how you operate and how you get paid as a contractor. So, we’re perfectly placed to advise you on your contractor mortgage options – regardless of how complex your circumstances may be. In fact, the more challenging the better!
With access to a wide range of lenders across the market, we can independently broker the best available mortgage deal for you and your family. Our job is to help you find a suitable mortgage – or re-mortgage – deal that befits your needs, your budget, and your ambitions.
Your job? Your job is to work out what you want and let Danbro Financial Planning help you find your way home.
Taking that first step on the property ladder is an important milestone in your life. But, we understand that it can be as daunting as it is exciting. Particularly if you work on a contract basis. So, if you’re unsure about your mortgage eligibility, or how much you’re entitled to borrow as a contractor, we’re here to help.
Thanks to our industry-leading experience and in-depth market knowledge, not to mention our longstanding relationships with reputable providers, we can match you with the right lender for your circumstances. We want to help make this momentous experience as satisfying and stress-free as it should be.
Are you looking to raise funds, consolidate debt, or find a better mortgage rate? Perhaps your current deal is up for renewal and you want to see what’s out there. Or, maybe you’re considering releasing equity from your property to extend or renovate – transforming your current home into your dream home.
Whatever your reason for re-mortgaging, we’ll search the market to help you switch to a deal that works for you. Furthermore, if you have adverse credit or a complex contracting history, we’re keen to help you re-mortgage where others would shy away.
They say moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do in life. And, it can become even more complicated if you’re not a ‘traditional employee’. That’s why we’re here. We know the market. And, as part of the Danbro family, we know how you operate as a contractor too.
From initial advice on mortgage services through to sale and completion, we’ll work alongside you to save you time, money, and stress! Whatever stage you’re at in your contracting career – and in your life – we’ll help you get moving faster.
Whether you’re a first-time landlord or if you’re adding another property to your portfolio, you need to know you’re getting the best deal on your buy-to-let mortgage. Get it wrong and another mortgage might mean another headache.
By harnessing the expertise of a specialist broker like Danbro Financial Planning, you’ll have the support you need to buy with confidence. Our dedicated team will assess your circumstances, analyse the appropriate lenders, and give you the support you need to secure a buy-to-let mortgage that works for you.
Contractor Mortgages - Your Journey
We invite all our clients for an informal consultation with Sharon, our Mortgage & Protection Specialist. Sharon’s happy to meet you in person, for a chat over the phone, or via video call – whatever’s easiest for you. There’s no obligation and no initial charge. It’s a relaxed discussion that allows us to get to know one another, and build a clear picture of your targets and ambitions.
Sharon will assess your mortgage feasibility and talk you through the application process, as well as our services and any associated fee.
Once we’ve understood your goals, it’s time for us to get to work.
We’ll research the latest mortgage deals, assess them in accordance with your specific requirements, and narrow down the appropriate lenders. Sharon will talk you through your potential deals and repayment methods, and present her recommendations to help you move things forward.
Our approach to contractor mortgages is a completely collaborative one.
When you’re happy with what’s on offer, it’s time to get your contractor mortgage – or re-mortgage – application moving. This is where it gets exciting.
We can arrange your agreement in principle and seek a formal quotation from your chosen lender. This involves a ‘soft’ credit search and a ‘mini-application’. So, it helps that we know which lenders to approach as per your circumstances. If successful – and subject to underwriting – you’ll have a shiny new agreement in principle as evidence that you’re in a position to proceed!
Then, when you’re ready to move, we’ll take care of the formalities. Once your mortgage application is good to go, the lender will conduct their final checks. This could include things like surveys and valuations. They’ll then present you with a formal mortgage offer.
After your solicitor has completed their legal checks, and arranged the exchange of contracts and the formal completion, you’ll finally get your hands on the keys to that dream home or buy-to-let property!
What’s more, our service doesn’t stop there. As well as assisting you with any other property-related challenges, our specialist team offer holistic, independent financial and wealth management advice to help ensure your mortgage and financial plans are working for you.
We don’t just want to help you apply for a mortgage, we want to help you get where you want to be - at a pace that suits you.

'Danbro Financial Planning made our dreams come true...'
“After 10+ years of renting, my wife wanted to call a house a home. But, I thought it was going to be impossible. Banks had turned us down, or offered us mortgages that were far below the asking price of the properties we were interested in.”
“Danbro Financial Planning were able to make our dreams come true! We felt like we were being helped by a friend, not by a company. Sharon went above and beyond to assist us, and never moaned or groaned when we asked for further clarification. We’ve now moved into our forever home and already made good friends with our neighbours. Without Sharon, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
“Thank you, Danbro Financial Planning, for making our family very happy!”
